Hyderabad: The tickets for the India-Australia third and final T20 international, scheduled to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal in city on Friday, were sold like hot cakes and the officials of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) sported a huge smile as the match could fetch around Rs 4 crore which could boost their sagging financial woes.
According to G Vivekanand, president of HCA, they could have a windfall of over Rs 4 crore from this match. “The game is generating good response and excitement as the opposition is Australia. It is a good opportunity for all the fans from the State to witness the game. The tickets
are being sold at a brisk pace. There is also a good response for corporate boxes,” he said.
Even as the HCA officials held the press conference, a huge crowd had turned up at Gymkhana. The association had initially planned to sell the hard copy tickets at Gymkhana and Uppal on October 7. But HCA, without informing the fans and citing the Hyderabad-Maharashtra Ranji Trophy match, postponed the sale of tickets to Tuesday. The crowd jostled against each other to lay their hands on the tickets. The HCA made poor arrangements leading to inconvenience to the public. There was long line and the security people had tough time to control the crowd.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Eventsnow.com’s senior manager Sudheer Reddy said that the lower denomination online tickets of Rs 800, 1000 and 1500 were already sold out. “We are expecting all the tickets to be sold out in a day or two.”
