Sudden downpour lashes Hyderabad on Thursday
Hyderabad: Showing no let up, rains returned to the city and outskirts lashing different areas and disrupting normal life on Thursday evening.
After mostly remaining sunny in the morning and when the citizens were hoping for a reprieve, sudden downpour took everyone by surprise. Those returning home from their offices were left stranded for quite some time and most forced to seek shelter wherever they could. The intensity of rain was reported to be high at Serilingampally, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, RTC Cross Roads, Bagh Lingampally and Vidyanagar while it was said to be normal to heavy at Tolichowki, Chitrapuri Colony and Gachibowli.
With the rains came the water stagnations and vehicles having to wade through them. Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin made a visit to Borabanda and instructed GHMC officials to clear the water at earliest. Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy directed law and order officials to coordinate with traffic police and GHMC in clearing traffic and also in rescue and relief operations.
