Kakatiya University reaccredited with A grade
Warangal Urban: Kakatiya University, Warangal, has been reaccredited with the ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Though the authorities of the varsity hoped to get A+ grade, they were only able to improve the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from 3.02 in 2009 to 3.36 points this time, but not the rank. To secure A+ grade, the varsity should have got above 3.50 CGPA.
Though the visit by the peer team of the NAAC was scheduled for August 2015, it got delayed due to several reasons.
However, a seven-member NAAC peer team lead by Prof. NC Goutam, Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Madhya Pradesh, visited all the departments on the campus and assessed their performance from August 28 to 30, 2017.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna expressed his happiness over getting A grade by the NAAC. “I hope we can get more funds from the Central funding agencies like UGC as we were able to retain the A grade,” he added.
Prof Sayanna and registrar Prof K Purushotham thanked all the principals, deans, heads and faculty members and employees for their support in helping the varsity achieve the A grade.
