‘Organic farming good for soil’

Hyderabad: The Agriculture and Horticulture departments are giving due importance for the utilisation of organic compost fertilizers to avoid health complications besides encouraging high yield, said Horticulture Commissioner L Venkatram Reddy here on Tuesday.

Addressing a training programme on organic compost fertilizers, he said soil strength will also increase with organic farming and explained on methods to be adopted by farmers for making organic fertilizers at their farms.

Speaking on the occasion, coordinator of National organic farming center, Dr Krishnan, said to avoid residues in the farm fields, Ghaziabad center has developed an advanced waste decomposer which would be very helpful to the farmers and asked the farming community to take advantage of the waste decomposer. He also advised farmers to utilise self-certification process which was introduced by the Central government to get certification for their produce.
